Estate

In 2022, we took over the Château de Lucey vineyards, which have been farmed organically since 2013.

The estate is located in the commune of Lucey, a small village in the Savoyard foreland nestled between the Rhône and Lac du Bourget. The calm and beauty of the landscapes that surround us invite us to take care of these terroirs.

We cultivate our vines in line with our lifestyle choices. Altesse, Mondeuse and Pinot Noir are produced with a different approach and outlook for each vintage, reflecting our identity and our terroirs.

We are Erwan Buchwalter and Anne-Cécile Pflieger, and with our daughters Salomé and Daphné, we invite you to discover our wines.

History

Built in the 13th century, Chateau de Lucey, originally a military structure, has stood the test of time thanks to its various custodians who have turned it into a building of character.

Among its most illustrious owners are the de Mareste family, whose name radiates across the Marestel hillsides; Benoît de Boigne’s family, who undertook extensive work to renovate the Savoie heritage; and, for over 100 years, the Defforey family, who today watch over its walls.

It was Nicole Defforey, who died in 2023, who re-created the winery in 1992 under the name Chateau de Lucey.

The owners passed the estate on to us, so that we could carry on their legacy…

Varieties

The grape variety par excellence of the Savoyard foreland is Altesse. This delicate variety, whose history is steeped in mystery, has been known in France since the 16th century and is thought to be linked to the Lucey region, as evidenced by the Altesse hillside overlooking the Rhône.

Another Savoyard variety, Mondeuse, which is more robust at first glance, produces robust red wines that fit in perfectly with mountain gastronomy.

And for more delicate palates, Pinot Noir will seduce you with its caress and fruitiness, although it is more afraid of the frivolity of climate change.

Wines

Whether white or red, our wines are the product of organic and sustainable agriculture, where the vines are treated only when necessary and in quantities that maintain a rich micro-fauna in our plots.

We follow the same philosophy at the winery, where our reasons are vinified by indigenous yeasts and aged on lees.

To leave them as natural as possible, we don’t filter or fining them before bottling, so that they retain their fruitiness and freshness.
